Overview of Basic Scanning Workflow
1. Scan, Review and Approve
We begin by scanning both the treatment area and the opposing arch. A bite scan is also captured to record your bite position.
Once the scan is complete, our system requires a full review before any files can be submitted. This ensures that every detail is captured accurately, giving us confidence that your restoration will fit as planned.

2. Prescribe and Send
After the scan is approved, we complete your digital prescription. This includes the type of restoration, material, and shade. Each prescription is signed using a secure, dentist-specific PIN for added security.
The finalized digital impression is then sent securely to the 3M™ Connection Center, where it’s ready for design and production.

3. Design and Produce
Once your files reach the lab or in-office design system, the digital model can be used to create your restoration.
Whether the restoration is designed chairside or in the lab, the open STL file format allows flexibility for various fabrication methods, including milling, implant placement, and orthodontic appliances.

4. Seat and Cement
When your restoration is complete, you return to the clinic for placement. Thanks to the accuracy of the scan, the restoration usually seats properly on the first try, allowing for a smooth and efficient appointment.
In many cases, patients receive their final restoration the same day or during a short follow-up visit.
