Our natural teeth are made of different layers of dentin and enamel, giving teeth unique characteristics. The deeper parts of our teeth are more yellow in color and the superficial parts are more translucent. This allows light to shine through our teeth differently, giving more translucency at the biting edges and more opacity at the gumlines.
With layered composite bonding, we mimic these natural characteristics in your composite veneers. We layer 3-5 different colors and types of composite to recreate each veneer. We will use more translucent composites to replace the edges of the teeth, and more opaque colors to replace the gumlines. We use stronger composites on the tongue side layers, where you bite into, and more polishable composites on the surface, so your composite bonding will remain strong and look beautiful for many years.
